Umberto Bortolotti

Founded in 1947, our winery is situated in the heart of Valdobbiadene and belongs to the initial group of wineries of the nearby area of Conegliano, which is responsible for the fame of today’s production of sparkling Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Since the second World War the Prosecco production has grown constantly, marking a real surge in the last 15 years.

Together with a dozen other wineries, in those days all of small dimensions, our winery believed in the potential of the Prosecco grape – called Glera – which had been grown locally for over three hundred years.

Umberto Bortolotti was one of the founders of the Brotherhood of Prosecco in 1946 along with the Consortium for the protection in 1962, the objective was to promote the creation of a production discipline.

Cantine Umberto Bortolotti can be considered a pioneer and leader in a wine district covering 5896 hectares in which there are about 170 wineries and more than 3,200 grape growers.

In 2013 production capacity from this district was at approximately 72 million bottles. In the same period Bortolotti produced about 600.000 bottles of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
